Steve Sexton’s work encompasses film soundtracks, producing, conducting, arranging, and songwriting. His eloquent style and passion for composing has lead him to numerous film projects including the latest film “Cut Throat” from Errant Films at this years “Toronto Film Festival” and “The Last Trick” (Directed by Bill Appel from Australia).
Steve’s extensive music career has had him working alongside top artists such as Celine Dion, Michael Buble, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray; and top orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Philharmonic working with John Williams.
After graduating from Western University in music, Steve began playing in local bands such as the Streetpeople, the Lincolns, and eventually joined such notable bands as Surrender, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. He worked with Anne Murray for many years as her Musical Director and then met Gerald O’Brien forming the instrumental duo “Exchange.”
Steve has won numerous awards and has been well recognized in the film and music industry with four Juno award nominations, an Ampex Golden Reel award, Procan award, a Gemini award nomination, Socan Song of the Year award, and numerous Gold and Platinum records.
Steve has been fortunate to work along side other great artists such as Dusty Springfield, Julio Iglesias, Bill Champlain, Jan Arden, Rita Coolidge, and Patti Labelle, and also worked with Jim Carrey on his first feature film called Copper Mountain. He has now released Exchange’s seventh CD called “Eleven Eleven” (along with Gerald O’Brien) August of this year.
